Viking's expedition cruises reach polar and remote regions where medevac by helicopter or other means may be difficult or impossible. Pre-existing condition waivers typically require insurance purchase within 14-21 days of initial deposit. Viking publicly recommends minimum medical coverage of $100,000+ and emergency medical evacuation coverage of $250,000–$500,000 for expedition voyages.
